At around 11 p.m. on August 13, law enforcement observed a car swerving into other traffic lanes on Richmond Highway, almost causing an accident, according to Stafford County police.

A nearby officer initiated a traffic stop and before getting to the driver's window, he could smell the strong odor of alcohol coming from the car, officials reported.

Erick Castillo, who was behind the wheel, appeared to have glassy, bloodshot eyes and was uncooperative with law enforcement, authorities said.

When the 33-year-old got out of his car, he said he did not have a driver’s license, because it was suspended, and gave the officer fake identification information, police said.

Another officer searched Castillo's car and found a debit card with his real name on it and finally, Castillo confirmed his real identity, officials said.

Stafford police said Castillo had active warrants for domestic assault and a revoked license due to driving under the influence.

Castillo was served on his active warrants and was charged with driving under the influence third offense in ten years, driving after forfeiting his license, falsely identifying himself to law enforcement, and other related offenses, police reported.

Officials reported that Castillo was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
